Q. Will my Foundation Factory programs work in Lion, Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion ?

Yes, Foundation Factory will work on Lion, Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion, Once you install the update, open the program named Foundation Factory 3.. If you have older versions installed and
you have just upgraded to any of these OS versions you can find updates here:

http://quiltpro.com/update.shtml

Once you install the update, open the program named Foundation Factory 3.

Please note:  that you may be required to re-enter your Foundation Factory serial numbers after updating the program.  Be sure to have all your serial numbers handy or you will not be able to use the Foundation Factory 3 application file.

If you cannot locate your serial numbers, email tech support to request them.  Be sure to include the name, address, and email address you used when purchasing the programs.  In addition, we MUST know the name of the Foundation Factory Edition you purchased.  One way to tell is to open Application folder, then open the Foundation Factory "Blocks" folder.  All the installed programs will be listed.  Send us the complete name of the program you need a serial number for.

Q. After installing Foundation Factory, I can't see any blocks.  What happened?

To fix this, you need to be logged into an admin account.

1. Open Finder window
2. Go to Applications
3. Locate the Foundation Factory folder and select it but do not open it.
4. Get Info on the folder using either File/Get Info, or Command-I.
5. Look at the bottom of the window (scroll down if you need to) and find Sharing & Permissions.
6. If the Sharing & Permissions part is not expanded, click the triangle to the left so you can see the Permissions.
7. Click the little lock on the bottom right of the window to enable changing permissions. You'll be asked for you password, enter it. If
you enter it correctly, the +/- to the left will become enabled.
8. Click on the word 'everyone' to highlight it. It most likely says 'Read only' to the right of 'everyone'.
9. Click on 'Read only' and change it to 'Read & Write'.
10. At the bottom of the window is a button with a little gear and a down arrow on it. Click on that button and choose the option 'Apply to enclosed items'.
11. You'll be asked if you want to apply the selected owner, group, and permission to all of the items. Click on OK.
12. A status window will appear for a short while, then disappear. When it disappears, close the Get Info window.
13. Foundation Factory should able to access the blocks and everything now.

Q. When installing Foundation Factory, I get a message that the installation failed. What do I do now?

Some users have gotten the failed installation error message when in fact the program installed correctly.  Please open Foundation
Factory and check to see if the new blocks for your new program  are available.

To open the program:  Open the Application folder, look for and open Foundation Factory folder, then open the Foundation Factory
application file.  Once open the new program should be listed in the white center area along with your other Foundation Factory programs.

If the Foundation Factory application file won't open, please contact tech support for further instructions. Click here for tech support

Q. When I click on the block files to open I get an error message or the files are gobbly gook?  Why?

For this program, you must open the application file to view the block files.  Here is how:  Go into Applications, look for and open the
Foundation Factory folder.  Inside will be a Foundation Factory 3 file or a Foundation Factory PPC, both have an F icon  file.  That is the application file, double click it to open it. You should see the blocks once it is open.

Q. How do I print multiple copies of a pattern on one page?

In many programs, the copies box means how many pages do you want to print.  In Foundation Factory, it means how many actual
patterns do you want to print. So, to print more than one copy of the pattern you'll have to add the number of copies you want to print to the copies box. For example, if you need 4 patterns, enter 4 in the box and it will print 4, in however many pages it takes to print that number of patterns.

Q. What is the version of Foundation Factory?

Here is how to check.  Go to the Foundation Factory menu at the top left of the screen.  Click on About Foundation Factory.  The version number should be shown in small letters by the Foundation Factory graphic.

Q. I want to use the blocks from Foundation Factory in Quilt-Pro, how do I do that?

A. At the moment the blocks that install into Foundation Factory do not work in Quilt-Pro 5.  However, you may contact tech support for those files.  When you do, please include your serial number.
